Frequently asked questions:

Q: How far in advance do I need to order?

A: I recommend booking as soon as you know the date of the event. Some dates are always busier than others.

Q: How do I place an order or request a quote?

To place an order you can either send me an email at CakeandCookieArt@yahoo.com or reach out to me via Facebook at Facebook.com/Jsweetstreats. Please be sure to include the date you need the cake, how many people you need to serve and what the theme is or what you are hoping for. Generally you will receive a reply within 24-48 hours.

Q: Do you require a deposit?

In order to officially book a date a 50% retainer payment and signed invoice are required. The final balance is due 2-3 weeks before the pick up/delivery date. Please note: An inquiry does not constitute a reservation.

Q: Do you offer pick up or delivery?

I offer pick up and also offer delivery for a fee dependent on distance.

Q: I have a theme, but am not 100% sure what I want. Can you help?

I would be happy to help you design a cake or help with ideas for cookies. It is best if I am sent inspiration photos so I have an idea of your taste, as well as the budget I have to work with. From there I can help design something you will love!

Q: Do you do buttercream or fondant? I've had fondant before and it didn't taste good. Is this usual?

I work with both buttercream and fondant. If a design needs it I can also use ganache. Commercial fondant which many bakers use generally does not taste pleasant. Many people will just remove it. I make my own marshmallow based fondant. I have been told that mine actually tastes GOOD! Keep in mind, some cake designs require that the cake be done in fondant, while some require buttercream. We can discuss what would be best for your needs.

Q: Can you recreate a design from a photo for a cake?

I would be happy to recreate a photo of a cake for you. But understand there is no way to guarantee that it will look exactly the same. (They often look better!). Different bakers use different food colors, ingredients, materials, so it may not be possible to make a replica. But I will always do my best.

Q: Do you have a minimum order for cookies or cupcakes?

There is a minimum of 1 dozen regular size cookies, or 2 dozen minis (with the exception of specials during the holidays). For cupcakes there is a minimum order of 2 dozen of one flavor other than vanilla. If ordering cupcakes along with a cake, the minimum order is 6 cupcakes as long as it is the same flavor of the cake.

Q: Do you offer gluten free or allergen friendly desserts?

I do offer gluten friendly cookies and vanilla cake, however there is always a small chance of cross-contamination, as they are made on shared (but cleaned) equipment. My recipes do contain, eggs, dairy and may come in contact with soy and other allergens.

Q: Do you do offer wedding cake consultations and tastings?

Yes, I offer wedding cake consultations. I can explain more about how it is done once we are in contact.

Q: Why are you asking me for my budget. If I give that to you, aren't you going to try to sell me something at the very top of it?

I really do understand that customers are sometimes uncomfortable giving a budget. Sometimes they have never ordered a custom cake before, so they have no idea how much it will cost. In addition, we all know unscrupulous business people that are always out for money, and people are hesitant. However that is the complete opposite of the way I work. In order to be able to offer suggestions, I need to know what I have to work with budget-wise. I will always work to keep you within your budget (if possible). But sometimes if what you want is beyond the budget, I can offer alternatives, and if you have a larger budget, I can be really creative and brainstorm many ideas. I have many repeat customers who trust me and hopefully I can gain your trust, too.

Q: Do you do logo and corporate logo cookies?

Yes, I offer custom logo cookies for corporate events. I have an edible printer that prints directly onto cookies, or if the logo is fairly simple, I can create a stencil.
